Adventist Church welcomes 136 new Adventists at PARL’s Evangelism Series

The Public Affairs and Religious Liberty or PARL-sponsored Happy Family Seminar ushered in 136 people to Jesus through baptism after a successful one-week evangelism series which started on January 26 til February 1 at New Resettlement Project (NHA Gymnasium) Brgy. San Roque, New Bataan, Davao de Oro.

The Public Affairs and Religious Liberty Federation of Davao de Oro, headed by Dr. Arnulfo Lantaya, Administrator of the Municipality of Pantukan, initiated the Happy Family Seminar. Adventists working in the government were in full force to be part of this event. The nightly presentations about family, health, livelihood, and gospels has become a blessing to the community.

This year the Sunrise Herald Interdeparmental Association or SUHIDA district was chosen to host the seminar. According to SUHIDA district pastor, Jonathan Maslog, “the Municipality of New Bataan particularly in San Roque, was chosen as there is still no Adventist presence in this barangay. We want to have a church built here because people were also asking for it.”

He was grateful that members of the SUHIDA district responded to the call to serve and host the one-week seminar.

Prior to this seminar, some members of the SUHIDA District were doing a house to house visitation, and even conducted a branch Sabbath School program, a health lecture, and a free medical mission in San Roque where this has helped led the people to attend the seminar every night. The presentations of the speakers moved the heart of the seminarians which resulted to the baptism of the 136 people.

Pr. Seth Suan, the Ministerial Secretary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Davao region, and at the same time a PARL director, was thrilled by the outcome of the seminar. He noticed that a lot of people were thirsty of the gospel message.

Meanwhile, Pr. Jonathan Maslog said, “I am very happy to see people responding to the presentations every night. The presentations on health, family, and gospel made them realized how great is God’s love for them and for everyone.”

It was a collaborative effort that led to the success of the seminar. Both Pastors Seth Suan and Jonathan Maslog congratulated the PARL Federation in Davao de Oro for initiating this event.

“This has become an annual event for PARL in Davao de Oro and through this initiative, we see more and more people accept the truth, and we also see a more active PARL federation in this side of the region,” commented Pr. Seth Suan. (by Vecente Macalua)
