The Davao Mission successfully held the 14th Constituency Meeting at the Adams Center Adventist Church on January 10. Delegates came very early to represent the 69,580 members of the 154 organized churches and 142 companies of Davao Mission.

The meeting started with Pr. Danielo Palomares, president of the Adventist Chuch in the South Philippines (SPUC), delivering the keynote message.

He magnified on Haggai 1, which says, “Higher office and promotions are tantamount to going up and to the mountains purposely finding timber to build the house of the Lord.”

“Being in a committee that will select or choose the leaders of the church would mean you have a big responsibility in choosing the leaders that would eventually build the church up and not tear it down,” Palomares explained.

After the Opening Program, the newly-elected Davao Mission officers went into the Plenary Session as the delegates accepted the Printed program and the Video Reports of the President, the Executive Secretary, and the Treasurer. It then proceeded to create the Organizing Committee that would later choose the members of the Nominating Committee.

Pr. Max Dante Obbus, president of the Adventist Church in the Caraga Region (NeMM), spoke and centered his message on the life of David during the Mid-day Devotional. “The Lord does not need the best people for the job. What He needs are good people! People who are willing to do the work for Him and not to do the work for a position!”

The delegates accepted the integrated departmental video report as the meeting continued in the afternoon. As the representatives patiently waited for the Nominating Committee’s result, they were treated to Cluster Video Reports while receiving their goodies from MissionFoods and selecting local churches and congregations to receive funds for evangelism.

Meanwhile, Pr. Heshbon Buscato, SPUC Executive Secretary, delivered the commitment message that gently reminded the new leaders that will lead Davao Mission in the next four years.
