DM Launches One-Day Church Project

February 5, 2021 • in News & Events

The  government lockdowns, due to the health threat brought about by the COVID-19 surge, limit the travel of people to and from places in and around Davao region. After a year of waiting, the One-day Church Project Launch was off to a great start as Pr. Edwin Magdadaro, president of Davao Mission of Seventh-day Adventists, graces this event held at Digos Central Adventist Academy Gym, Lapu-lapu Ext., Digos City, on February 3.

In the Book of Luke chapter 5 verses 1-11, we learned that upon reaching the shores of Gennesaret, Jesus saw two boats docked-in by the shores of the lake, and He asked to use one of the two. He boarded Simon Peter’s boat and thrust a little offshore to speak to the people who were there.

Soon after, Jesus turned to Simon Peter and said, “launch out into the deep and let down your nets!” Tired and exhausted for the night, Peter looked at the stranger and said, “Master, we got nothing all night: Nevertheless, at Your word, I will go! I will let down the net.”

Speaking to local association leaders of the 2019 earthquake-affected districts, Pr. Magdadaro said, “This ‘Nevertheless Attitude’ is what we want to emulate by heart! Now, we face a great challenge of putting up our church buildings that were greatly damaged by those series of earthquakes. I know it will be challenging–it will not be easy–‘Nevertheless–we will go, and we will do it!”

Amen echoed the hall as local district presidents, mission directors, pastors, and leaders of the Davao del Sur – North and South, and Davao Occidental clusters responded to the challenged as each one stood to support and commit to helping finish this one-day project this year!

“Blessings will come in the reward of service,” said Pr. Magdadaro, citing Simon Peter’s unconditional offer of his boat to be used by Jesus.

The launching was through the One-Day Church Project Technical Committee effort, headed by Pr. Lito Magsico, with Pr. Benjamin Yuzon, Pr. Ranel Fortich, Engr. Rosedelberto Reyno, Engr. Winefredo Mendez, Engr. Narlande Dapiton, Arc. Gedeon Lurzano, and Mr. Cerilo Espina.

The event was well represented and attended by district association presidents and representatives, church building donors and supporters, mission administrators, and directors.
