“Everyone must involve in doing God’s work because the end is near”, Pr. Danielo Palomares, executive secretary of South Philippines Union Conference said on the Sabbath worship during the 1st Urban District Fellowship on June 9, 2018 at Riverdale SDA Church, Maa, Davao City.
As a guest speaker and speaking to almost 300 members of the churches within Davao City territory known as, “Urban District” which include the church of Lambs, Kasilak, S.I.R Matina, Matina Aplaya, English Church in Bangkal, Talomo, Mandug, and the host Riverdale–– Palomares strongly emphasized in the unity in doing God’s great commission.
He elaborated on the “Dynamics of God’s Work” based on 2 Kings 6:1-7.
“If we are going to study the 2 Kings 6:1-7 deeply, it will give us three very important lessons,” Palomares said. “The first is, in the course of doing God’s service “change is inevitable”. Second, sometimes borrowing is necessary provided it will help to make the work done accordingly. And third, God will do wonders or miracles in the line of duty”.
Shortly after the message, Pr. Dennyson V. Moralde, district pastor of the Urban District handed out a token of appreciation to the guest speaker. Moralde considered Palomares not just a friend but also a brother, and could not help but to thank the speaker for the message and the time he spent together with the Adventists in the Urban District of Davao City.
“As what I have observed, the message was so timely and I want to thank Pr. Palomares for that,” Moralde said. “It encourages everyone of us in the church to be more active in attending the fellowship like this,” he added.
Meanwhile, the leaders of Urban District Fellowship together with members showed their gratitude to everyone who have witnessed this first district fellowship. Despite the busy schedule, they were able to manage and conduct this event.
“Truly, God will do wonders to his children if they will live in unity,” said one of the elders of the Urban District. (Vecente Macalua)
