The Adventist Church’s Women’s Ministries in the Davao region (DM), led by Marilyn C. Moralde, director, successfully held its convention, November 1-3, 2018, at South Philippine Adventist College, Matanao, Davao del Sur.

A total of 845 delegates officially representing the five provinces and one component city within Region XI, namely, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Compostela Valley and Davao City participated in the said event. The activity started with a parade, an opening program, and various performances through field demonstrations, songs and yells presentations.

Davao Mission through its administrators, directors, office staff, and field workers attended. Pastor Edwin T. Magdadaro, president, keynoted the program as he emphasized the important role of women in the advancement of God’s cause, and empowered for effective service.

Several activities were conducted, making the convention a memorable and enjoyable experience for all attendees. Sports such as volleyball and kickball, exciting and Bible-related games like 'play for fun,' Bible extravaganza, and Bible verse marathon were organized. Folk dances, musical drama and song interpretations made the event lively, as well.

This year’s convention theme, “Women through Christ: We Change, We Lead” highlighted women from all walks of life that can be transformed and become effective leaders in the home, workplace, community and church by allowing Jesus to convert and lead their lives.

On its culminating day, Mrs. Rufina “Pinky” C. Gulfan, director and coordinator of the Women’s Ministries & Shepherdess International of the South Philippine Union Conference, emphasized in her Divine Worship sermon that “there is nothing nobler and better but to follow the will of the Lord as God’s people. Women are now liberated from the chains of slavery by setting Eve as an example to express God’s capability to recover and redeem anyone who falls and makes each one extraordinary trophy of His grace despite failures.” She encouraged the women to set themselves free from the influences and distractions of the world and allow the renewing of the Holy Spirit so that Christ’s character is perfected in them, and they will be ready to spend eternity with Him. She further stressed that the church needs faithful and persevering women who can surpass and endure trials of today, and stay committed and dedicated in exalting and glorifying God.

A commitment service and awarding ceremony closed the 3-day event.

The 2018 Women’s Convention was a huge success as the working committees, Women’s Ministries provincial presidents, church and district pastors, Davao Mission employees and the delegates lend their helping hands to make this happen through God’s grace and bountiful blessings!

Until a new, convention unfolds!
