Malita district celebrates radio program anniversary

Over a hundred church members from the Malita District attended the 8th year celebration of “Tingog sa Profesiya,” a radio program aired on two local radio stations in Malita, Davao Occidental. The celebration was held, July 14.

The program speakers, laymen from the different tribal groups within town and suburbs, who were instrumental in the existence of this locally-produced program, were in this celebration.

“We are happy to penetrate the homes of people through our Tingog sa Profesiya program,” said Pastor Irnie Hemoroz, newly-assigned pastor in the district of Malita.

Rhoen Catolico, communication and media director of the Adventist Church in Davao region, challenged the members to religiously and diligently take part in this ministry in any way possible. He said, “Daghan pa ang naghulat ug gustong makabaton sa Maayong Balita. Dili lamang kita gusto nga makakita ug usa ka milagrong mahitabo apan mahimo unta kitang kabahin sa milagro alang sa paghimaya sa Dios!” (Many are waiting and wanting to receive the Good News. We just don’t want to see a miracle happening but let us be a part of that miracle–for the glory of God!)

The Tingog sa Profesiya program has ushered in new members to the church and to the feet of Jesus . During this 8th anniversary celebration, 14 accepted Jesus through baptism, as a direct result of the local broadcast.

Bro. Mendoza Tabialan, a newly baptized member, confessed, “Wala man gyud nagtudlo namo, Sir, nga maminaw sa Tingog sa Profesiya. Apan ako nagtoo nga ang Ginoo maoy nagtudlo namo nga maminaw niini nga programa.” (Nobody instructed us to listen to the program, Tingog sa Profesiya. But I believe God has guided us to listen to it.)

The celebration was highlighted by the musical presentation of the D’ Messengers, testimonies from the listeners, and the giving of tokens to the listeners who were present that afternoon.

The D’ Messenger singing group of five members graced this occasion through their live rendition of Cebuan songs, which captivate hearts of listeners in places where they perform, like this one. As one lumad puts it, “Ninduta gyud nila mokanta, sir no? Murag original!” (They really sing beautifully sir! It’s like the original!)

“We bring back the glory to God for another miracle today–the baptism of 14 individuals. There is no denying that through our radio programs, God works in ways that we sometimes fail to recognize,” said Pastor Leonardo Bualan, former district pastor of Malita and is now assigned in the neighboring Sta. Maria district. He also came for the celebration. [Photo by AdventistMedia]
