The Seventh-day Adventists of Davao Mission spent their Sabbath by distributing copies of the book, The Power of Hope, during the mission-wide Hope Impact program on April 21, 2018.
The said event was held in different districts within the Davao Mission territory, particularly the two big cities in Davao Region. The Davao City hosted the event at Rizal Memorial park and Tagum City, which was held at New City Hall Atrium. Prior to the distribution, a devotional was held in various assigned areas accompanied by series of songs from the young people. The distribution of books commenced at exactly 8:00 am.
Leaders representing local Adventist churches within Davao city worked together to spread the good news to the homeless, helpless, and hopeless people. The main goal of this event was let people know that there is hope, and the best is yet to come.
“The primary purpose of this activity is to share the good news of salvation and health message so that people may know that Jesus is coming very soon,” said Pastor Alex Necesario, executive secretary of the Adventist Church in Davao region, who led the charge in Davao City distribution.
Under the scorching heat of the sun, young and old, men and women who are members of the church were very enthusiastic in handing out 12,000 copies of the “Power of Hope” books. They were very excited to be a part of this momentous event. The giving of a book is a way of saying that God is always leading the way throughout history and provides answers for today’s unsettled world.
Meanwhile, in Tagum City, one recipient of the book, Wilson Bayobo was happy to receive a copy. “I will definitely read this book because it is the word of God, and it gives me positive outlook in life,” he said.
Pr. Edwin Magdadaro president of the Adventist Church in Davao region encouraged the members to involve themselves in this kind of service– “the best part in the life of every church member is that their relationship with God will be changed. It is very important that we will be as one in proclaiming the Good News. I am hoping that next time all members will participate because this is our responsibility as part of the body of Christ.”
Church leaders of Davao Mission were not only praying for the program but also extended their gratitude to the church members who joined the activity.
“I am very thankful to the Lord, for giving us this privilege to conduct this Hope Impact. I would also thank the church and district pastors for leading their members and to all levels of the Adventist Church in Davao Mission towards this great endeavor,” expressed Pastor Lito Magsico, director of the Stewardship/Legal and Trust Department.
